Hello friends:)
I promise one day my email will be short and sweet. Today is not that day 😅
This week felt like the longest week ever! We have so much work to do all the time that the days go by so fast but since we had such a special conference happening on Friday the wait felt so long!
Like I said November is going to be so crazy and so busy for our area! We have so much planning to do for all of our baptisms. This week consisted mostly of that. Lots of planning and lots of lessons.
I'm so sad, I am going through my very first mission "break up". Our friend Samuel (met a few weeks ago, was taught by missionaries 20 years ago, has such a strong testimony of the church, Joseph Smith and BoM, and is ready to be baptized-November 28th) doesn't live in our area so we have to send him to the Elders :( so so heart breaking but we know he will be in good hands and we are hoping we will still be able to go to his baptism.
So the conference! So many things I could say! First off all the ELM is the GREATEST! Hands down! I got to see Sister Costa!! I love her SO much and we are praying to one day be companions again! It was also so fun to see the Elders from my MTC district. As a mission we did a special musical number for the Apostles. Our mission song, Jerusalem. As we sang Elder Holland began singing with us! And Elder Cook started to tear up. How incredible is that?! My mission song, was their mission song! There was such a special spirit there. It was so cool to be so close to 3 of the Lord's Apostles all at once who have been in the exact same position I am in now! So many things were said that will stick with me forever, that touched my heart, and that answered my prayers. To focus on just a few...
President Ballard said, "Everyone you have ever and will ever love will be blessed because of your mission!" Such a bold promise but I know it is true. I have gained such a testimony of God's timing in the last year or so and I know without a doubt that London is exactly where I need to be at this time, and it's also exactly where I want to be! There is nothing for me in Utah right now, of course I miss my family and friends but I have NEVER been more sure about a decision I have made in my life. I know that this is the best thing I can be doing at this time in my life! <3
Elder Holland, as we know is a very bold and straight forward person. But he is also a big joker. It was so fun to see both sides of him. He said a lot of powerful things as well. He said "you are so close to history, you don't even realize you are making it." And he talked about how he has thanked Heavenly Father everyday for 59 years for his experiences he had on his mission. He talked about how we as missionaries have the greatest responsibility. He said that we need to know that we are sent from God and to make sure our friends (investigators) know the seriousiness of our message and the importance of commitments/commandments we invite them to keep.
Elder Cook is such a cute old man! He made me miss my gramps haha! He is just so sweet and always smiling just like my grandpa. He talked a lot about missionary work not ending after being released. He said, "put your heart in missionary work for your whole life" he also said, "There is nothing more important that you could be doing at this stage in your lives!" And talked about how serving a mission will help me become the best wife and mother I can possibly be :)
There were so many things said over the 3 days of this special conference. I really could go on and on. The biggest things were not said by the Apostles but spoken to me by the Spirit. I am so grateful for the oppurtunity I have had this week to come closer to my Savior by hearing from his chosen servants! They talked a lot about giving the mission everything I've got and Elder Holland promised that I will never go back to who I was before, he said I can't. After experiencing all that I will experience on my mission and witnessing all that I will witness. I will never be the same, I will grow and be better :) and He also said that everything that we missionaries want for our friends, God wants for us. That stood out to me a lot because I want all my friends (here and in the States) to come closer to their Savior, to feel his love and know that through His Atonement, they can be healed and forgiven time and time again. God wants that for each one of us! ❤❤❤
I love this Gospel and the plain and precious truths that are contained in the teachings. I love the Book of Mormon and the spirit I feel as I study each day. I love the Apostles, they dedicate their whole lives to serving the Lord and to serving each one of us! I LOVE being a missionary for the Lord's church! Above all, I love my Savior and my Father in Heaven!
I just have a few more things to say I promise, lol.
For all my missionary friends, I promise I am following pday 8am-6pm rules! My mom sends my emails to the email list so that's why you may be getting them late in the night 😳 #awkward as my district leader would say haha
If you haven't watched the Sunday broadcast yet, I would invite you to watch it. And I also re-extend President Ballards invitation to you. Let's all work together to give Jesus a wonderful Christmas gift 🥰
Also, no big deal or anything but I made it on deseret news. Not to flex or anything... but I'm basically famous ;)
Thank you everyone for all the kind, uplifting, encouraging emails last week! I love you all so so much! Miss you and pray for you every single day!
Thanks for enduring through another long email from me, you are the best! 😁
