2/8/2022 A Short Novel
Hello All! This week has been so SO good! We have seen so many miracles and have met so many amazing people! It has been a busy week (as it was the last week of the transfer). Part of me feels like I should write down this week in seperate emails
because it's been pretty all over the place! But anyways, grab some popcorn or something you're gonna be here awhile 🤣
To start off, I am so grateful for this transfer. It has been extremely tough but has forced me to rely solely on my Savior and Father in Heaven! I was blessed with a companion who is now a lifelong friend and this week we were able to help FIVE ''friends'' progress! This is a miracle!! We haven't had progressing friends all transfer long and finally are having lessons again which has been such a blessing and like I said a huge miracle 💜
Transfer News!!! I am staying in Hayes! I am really heart broken because President is ripping Sister Jones away from me but I am so happy because I love my ward so much, I love the area so much, and I truly felt like I still have things to do and people to teach in this area! I was very surprised to hear that I will be in a trio. I will be getting a different companion and together her and I will train a brand new missionary (if her visa and travel works out so pray for that!) I am looking forward to this new experience. I wasn't expecting it at all but I trust God and I know this is what is best for me! 🥰
I am thankful for crappy London weather!!! On Friday at district council in Wembley we met RORY. Sister Jones and I were walking to the tube (train) station to go back to the flat and it was literally so windy! We were both wearing dresses so we had to walk with our hands on our knees to keep our dresses down... Sister Jones looked to the right of us and this guy is looking back at us and laughing. She told about it and me being the way I am yelled at him and said "Hey! Is it always this windy in London?!"
He laughed some more and then we started walking with him and having a conversation. He noticed our tags and then saw that Sister Jones has a BoM. He took it out of her hand and started reading it! 🤯 And long story made longer, he wants to know more about it and asked where he could buy one so we obviously gave him that copy. We exchanged phone numbers and we have a lesson with him this evening 🥳 wish us luck!
We also met sweet JUDY and she is so ready for the Gospel to change her life! We had such a powerful first lesson with her! The Spirit was very present. She has been through a whole lot in her life and needs healing, the kind that comes through Jesus Christ 💗 I am excited to teach her and help her come closer to God! We talked a lot about trust issues and about how you can always trust God completely. It was so cool! I love Judy.
I was talking to the mission therapist friday night about being anxious about training and any other future callings during my mission and Sister Perry said something that I know she was prompted by the spirit to say, I really want to remember it forever so I wrote it down (lol) she said, "The Lord is preparing you for leadership in your mission and in your lifetime. You will lead so many woman in church. I don't really know what this means or what that will look like but the Lord is preparing you to lead."
She's so cool and I'm so grateful for her and I just love her lots :)
This weekend was so fun! We went to the Temple with the relief society sisters in the ward on Saturday and yesterday we went to a baptism in the Welling area because Sister Jones used to teach a man named Dennis who decided to be baptized so we got the oppurtunity to go 😊 Baptisms are so special!
Okay last thing, I promise. My mom really wanted me to share this story! So...
Elder Willis is an Elder that I don't really know too well but we've had a few conversations here and there and you can just tell he is an amazing missionary! He was at the baptism yesterday so I started talking to him and asked him about a story that I heard about him and it's literally so cool! His parents are from Jamaica but moved to the UK to raise their children, after Elder Willis and his siblings grew up his parents moved back to Jamaica. Elder Willis told me that growing up his dad would drive the whole family to church but never go inside. He would just sit in the car for the 3 hours and wait. He said he thought that his dad wouldn't be a member until the next life. So fast forwards, Elder Willis starts his mission and his mtc comp is from Jamaica preparing to serve in England. Covid hits and his mtc comp is sent home and reassigned to serve in Jamaica. At that same time Elder Willis' father got really sick and diagnosed with bone cancer but couldn't get the treatment he needed in Jamaica. Elder Willis said he spent 9 months in the dark not knowing how to help his family but that he also said relied on God and told me that the Savior really became his best friend. After 9 months his family believed the cancer had probably spread throughout his body but it hadn't and it was only stage 1! His dad has now made a full recovery, by the grace of God! & His heart has changed! Elder Willis' mom started doing Come Follow Me with his dad and because of that He has gained a testimony of Joseph Smith's part in the Restoration of the Lords church! For the last year(ish) of his mission Elder Willis has been able to teach his dad on his pdays and his dad now welcomes the missionaries into his home back in Jamaica. And the craziest part... his MTC companion (who was reassigned) is serving in his fathers area AND teaching him as well!
Isn't that SO happy?! Elder Willis actually goes home tomorrow and he said he will be flying to Jamaica in a week to go baptize his dad! The Lord is full of miracles! For each one of us. His timing is perfect. This story made me so happy and made me think about the promise that I was given at the 3 Apostle conference back in October.
"Everyone you have ever and will ever love will be blessed because of your mission." A powerful promise that I know is true. Not just for me but for all of us. Our mission on Earth is to follow Jesus Christ and I know that as you follow and serve Him, you AND your family will be blessed. 💗
Every. Single. Souls. God loves and knows every single soul. He is watching over each of them and in His timing, each of them will enjoy the blessings that come from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In God's timing Elder Willis' dad is getting baptized and in God's timing all the people I have grown to love on my mission and all the people I will love after my mission will accept the Gospel and that brings me so much joy! :))
"Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen."
Alma 26:37
Pday in London! Spent some time in China town, went to Lego world & M&M world while we were there too :')
Anyways I'm so sorry this is so long, i know it's a loaded email and I hope it all makes sense. But wow God is SO good! I love you lot so much (british people say that instead of ''guys'' or ''all'' lol)
oh and speaking of... people here don't hear my American accent anymore, unless I say ''really'' or "utah" they think i'm lying. 3 people this week asked what part of the UK I was from so I feel pretty cool lately ;)
Enjoy the weekly pics. I love & miss you! Have a good week and a happy day 💜
Cheers!
